“When in Rome…” Really?
“Do what the Romans do?” That’s about as good
of advice as “What happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas.”
A better question is “What would Jesus do?” And it doesn’t
matter whether it’s Rome, Las Vegas, or DuBois, Pennsylvania.
The Bible shows us a better way to live no matter what city we’re
in. And if I could have only one book in the Bible it would be the
book of Romans. And if I could have only one chapter, it would be
chapter eight. And if I could have only one verse, it would be verse
thirty-nine. Our journey to Rome this summer will take us through
those first eight chapters. Hope you enjoy the trip!

There are presently over 185,000 apps
available for the iPhone. How would you ever find time to use them
all? But did you know that Apps have been around for centuries?
That’s right, and they’re much more helpful and practical
than the ones on your phone. And they’re all found in one
place for free… God’s word. We’ll take a closer
look at six of them in this practical, biblical, series of messages.

Everybody knows you shouldn’t
use four-letter words. But not everyone realizes there are some
more common words with four letters that are just as damaging as
the ones that usually come to mind. Maybe more so. So for four weeks
we’ll focus on four letters. The real four-letter words.

Jesus never told his disciples to study
him. He never even demanded that they worship him—though he
is certainly worthy of that. What he did tell them to do was to
follow him. And it’s in following Jesus that we too find freedom
and fulfillment. So if the whole religion thing has left you jaded
or wanting for more—then come and discover the life you were
always meant to live… follow!

We’ve all been hurt by other
people. We’ve hurt ourselves and we’ve hurt others.
And as a result, we all end up with some sort of hurt, hang-up,
or habit. But the most important issue is… Where we do go
from here? The series “Hope for Hang-ups” offers freedom
from hurts, hang-ups, and habits through eight healing choices that
promise true happiness and life transformation. Based on the book
Life’s Healing Choices, these four messages are something
we all need to hear and experience.

But we’re past that, right? We can get on with a normal approach
to life and not have to think about being generous for another eleven
months. Not if you following the Jesus way. Christmas was just the
commencement of his life of generosity. He gave and he gave and
he gave until he gave it all… and I do mean all. So let’s
discover together how to live a whole life of generosity—the
way Jesus did. It’s not just the right way to live…
it’s a better way of life.
